Everybody, get your agendas ready because there is one hell of a party coming up. This Saturday Vunzige Deuntjes Festival is coming to Belgium for the very first time. The popular Dutch festival has organised plenty of urban parties in Rotterdam and Amsterdam and is now ready to take over Belgium. Even better: they are joining forces with other local party concepts Clitclap, SHUTTLES x Subbass Thrills and our very own Hitjes for Bitches! We figured it was time to have an interview with the ‘bitches’ behind this powerful partyconcept in Ghent, that happen to also be the ladies behind the DJ duo Catwar & Lilihell.

Catwar – aka Marianne and Lilihell – aka Elisabeth both have a passion for innovative urban genres such as future beats, trap, moombahton, jersey club etc. and are born and raised in our very own #9000. They formed the DJ duo Catwar & Lilihell about two years ago, but took their first steps in the local nightlife way before that.

Marianne had a love for hip hop from a very young age and was present in the local urban scene from a very young age. She used to work in the Quartier  for example – les anciens may remember this one – an oldschool hip hop café at Veerleplein. When she started playing herself, oldschool tunes were the obvious choice and she quickly became a resident in several local bars.

Elisabeth started Dj’ing under the name Badgal Lili and is founder of the famous Hitjes for Bitches parties. The first edition is now almost 3 years ago already and was quite the success. The first edition was hosted in the Cellar at the Graslei but had to be moved to the Cover because the success was overwhelming. Now the party is a true classic in the local partyscene. The party is known for the good sense of humor, great urban tunes and unique party decoration and is hosted most of the times in the iconic Charlatan. Elisabeth started Dj’ing at the first edition and hasn’t stopped since.

Since they often played at the same parties and shared the same taste in music, becoming a duo came very natural. A lot of people even assumed they already formed a duo, long before they actually did. But it was obviously the right move. Not only is it more fun for them to play with your buddy, they are now more popular than ever. Marianne also became Elisabeth’s right-hand woman in organizing Hitjes for bitches.

Curious to hear the ladies play live? Great news: We are giving away 3 duo-tickets to the Vunzige Deuntjes festival in Antwerp this saturday. The winners also recieve 5 drink tickets, so a great party is guaranteed. All you have to do is tag your fellow ‘party bitch’ you would like to take with you in this photo. We will announce the winners on Saturday on our Ghentstreets Facebook page.

See you Saturday!
